Usage and top-ups

This page covers the three things you do with usage: see it, fund it, and cap it. You’ll work from the Usage and Billing pages in the dashboard.

The Usage page shows what your workspace is using and where cost comes from. You can:

  • Change the period with a preset or a custom date range.
  • Group spend by service, provider, product, or unit.
  • Narrow it down to a single agent, user, team, or project.
  • Switch metrics between cost and raw units.

Each agent also has a Usage tab of its own.

Agents that can run on their own credentials also get a Usage by source section, which splits activity into three sources:

  • Alfe credits — billed spend on AI models.
  • Own API key — not billed by Alfe.
  • Subscription — not billed by Alfe.

Turns on an agent’s own key or subscription go straight to the provider. Alfe doesn’t bill them, so their costs are estimates. See Bring your own key or subscription.

Top-ups add to your credit pool. They need a payment card on file.

  1. Open the Billing page.
  2. Under Keep services funded, choose an amount and top up.

Current options are shown there. A top-up is usable across everything once it completes.

Auto-recharge tops you up automatically, so a low balance doesn’t stop your agents. You set a threshold and an amount: when your balance falls below the threshold, Alfe charges your card for that amount.

Usage limits cap what you can spend. Work that would go over a cap is refused.

  1. Open the Billing page and select the Limits tab.
  2. Select Add Limit, then choose what it covers: the whole workspace, or an agent, team, or project.
  3. Optionally, add service filters.
  4. Under Spend Caps, set at least one hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly amount, then save.
