Connect an account

Connect an OAuth account in about a minute, and every agent in that scope can use it. This page covers OAuth providers such as GitHub, Notion, and Google Workspace. For providers with their own setup, see Other setup methods.

  • You need permission to manage connections at the scope you’re connecting to. If you don’t see Add new connection, ask an organization admin.
  • Decide which scope the connection belongs to. You can move most connections later. See Connection scopes.
  • Have your sign-in details for the provider ready. You sign in to the provider, not to Alfe.
  1. In the dashboard at app.alfe.ai, open Connections. To connect at a narrower scope, open that team, project, or agent and select its Connections tab.

  2. Select Add new connection.

  3. Search for the provider and select it. A popup opens the provider’s own sign-in and consent screen.

  4. Sign in, review the access requested, and approve it.

  5. The popup closes and the account appears in the list with a Connected badge.

If you close the popup or decline, nothing is connected. Start again whenever you’re ready. If your browser blocks the popup, allow popups for the site and try again.

Alfe then activates the matching tools on every agent in that scope, so there’s nothing else to install.

The provider gives Alfe tokens limited to what you approved. Alfe stores them encrypted and never displays them. The connection row shows only details such as the account name and the date you connected it.

Most OAuth providers let you connect several accounts, for example a personal GitHub account and an organization bot. Run the flow again and sign in to the other account. Each one becomes its own connection.

When an agent can see several accounts for a provider, it chooses which one to use for each action.

Access can lapse, or a provider can start requiring new permissions. To restore access:

  1. Find the connection in the Connections hub.

  2. Select Reconnect.

  3. Approve access on the provider’s screen.

An agent can ask you to connect an account. It generates a one-use OAuth link limited to its own scope, and you open the link in a browser and approve access. See OAuth connect flows.
