Publish and fork templates

Templates aren’t only something you install. You can create your own, share them, and build on other people’s. New templates are private until you decide to publish them.

Select Create template on the Templates page to open Creator Studio. You can start from either of two points, and both produce the same complete, private template:

  • Use one of my agents — copy a proven personality, files, safe connection requirements, skills, model, voice, and imagery, then refine it.
  • Design a new role — describe the job and outcome in plain language. The studio helps shape the personality, first run, and visual identity with you.

Creator Studio saves your work automatically. Unfinished drafts appear under Work in progress, and you can resume one on another device.

To copy one agent directly, use Save as template in the agent’s Settings tab. It creates a private template you can use to create a new agent on any runtime. The original agent isn’t changed.

The dialog is clear about what travels:

  • Always copied — persona files, integrations and their non-secret settings, and model, voice, and avatar defaults.
  • Never copied — credentials and connected accounts, chat history and sessions, other workspace files, scheduled jobs, and runtime-specific settings.
  • Your choice — Include memory copies what the agent has learned.

Any change to a template’s persona, files, integrations, or configuration creates a new version, and the version history is on its detail page. Changing only its name, description, category, tags, or license doesn’t create a version.

Agents already created from a template aren’t changed by later versions.

Publishing makes a template public, so others can find and install it. Select Publish on the template’s detail page. Unpublish takes it back to private.

To publish, a template needs:

  • A name, description, and category.
  • At least one persona file.
  • A complete listing and its declared capabilities.
  • A key that nobody else has claimed publicly.

It can’t be published if it includes an agent’s private memory. Only the published version is readable by others, so later edits stay private until you publish again.

Forking makes your own editable copy. While installing creates a running agent, forking creates a template you own, so you can change its persona and integrations.

  1. Open Templates and find the template in the marketplace.

  2. Select Fork. Your copy opens on its own detail page.

A fork is a true copy, so it keeps working if the original changes or is removed. It also records where it came from, so the original author stays credited.

You can always fork for your own private use. Republishing depends on the original template’s license: by default, published templates don’t allow forks to be republished. If the license doesn’t allow it, publishing your fork is refused.
