Microsoft Teams

Give your agent its own Teams bot, and people can message it in chats, group chats, and channels. Alfe creates a dedicated bot for that agent, so no two agents share an identity.

  • You need permission to manage connections on the agent.
  • You need a Microsoft 365 administrator to approve the bot.
  • Your organization must allow custom app uploads in Teams. An administrator may need to turn this on.
  1. Open the agent in the dashboard and select its Channels tab.

  2. Select Add new channel, then Microsoft Teams.

  3. Select Create Teams bot. Alfe creates the bot and opens Microsoft’s admin consent screen.

  4. Have a Microsoft 365 administrator approve the consent screen. If you close it first, select Grant Admin Consent to reopen it.

  5. When the bot is ready, select Download Teams app to save the app package.

  6. In Teams, open Apps, then Manage your apps, then Upload an app.

  7. Select Upload a custom app, choose the ZIP file, and select Add.

  8. Open the installed app to message the agent, or add it to a team or channel.

Once the app is installed, the agent can:

  • Answer messages in chats, group chats, and channels.
  • Send messages to a conversation it can reach.
  • Send Adaptive Cards for richer, structured replies.
  • List the conversations available to its bot.
  • Messaging only. The Teams channel doesn’t give the agent Outlook, Calendar, or OneDrive. To add those, connect Microsoft 365 under Connections.
  • Name and icons come from the package. Teams reads them from the app package you upload. You can’t edit the bot’s profile in Alfe yet.

Teams is free to add. You only pay for what the agent uses, from your credit pool.

  • Slack follows the same per-agent bot pattern.
  • Channels compares every messaging platform.
