Create a managed agent

Create a managed agent from the dashboard and you’ll have an always-on agent on its own machine. The wizard takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Alfe saves your choices in the browser tab as you go.

You need an Alfe account with an active plan. If the size you choose isn’t covered by your plan’s included capacity, you also need a payment method. See Subscriptions & managed agents and live pricing.

  1. In the dashboard, open Agents and create an agent.

  2. On Template, choose who you want to add. Pick a template, select Design a role with AI, or select Start with a blank agent.

  3. On Name, name the agent.

  4. On Hosting, keep Managed by Alfe. Choose a runtime, then choose a size. The wizard recommends Medium and shows live prices, including any capacity your plan includes.

  5. On Model, confirm the default model. Your organization’s approved-model policy can narrow the list. A terminal runtime only offers its own provider’s models.

  6. On Review, check the summary and create the agent.

The agent’s page opens on a setup screen. Connect its tools there while Alfe prepares the machine. Provisioning usually takes about five minutes, and you can follow its progress on the page. See Lifecycle & status for what each status means.

If you chose a terminal runtime such as Claude Code, you can also add your own provider credential here. See How runtimes are billed.

When the agent reports running, it’s connected and ready for requests.

Every managed agent includes chat, a web console, support, and a headless browser out of the box. You can add more from the integration registry at any time.

The agent also has its own identity and credentials, its own persistent memory, and its own model configuration. None of this is shared with your other agents unless you grant it.
